three biggest college audition mistakes

COLLEGE AUDITIONS CAN BE SO STRESSFUL.  WHETHER YOU'RE GOING THROUGH THE COLLEGE AUDITION PROCESS OR GETTING READY TO NEXT YEAR, TAKE YOUR TIME AND AVOID THESE COMMON MISTAKES.
THE BIGGEST MISTAKES I SEE WITH COLLEGE AUDITIONS
  1. Not preparing -students think they can throw material together and rush the process. This is not something for which you can be ill prepared. You should start preparing for the college audition process as a Junior. Really start gathering and honing your songs and monologues early so by the time you’re a Senior, it’s not challenging.
  2. Lacking confidence-Lacking confidence in the choices of audition selections…which goes back to preparation. It’s very important to prepare early. I also see students lacking confidence in their slate and when speaking. Your slate is the time when we get to meet you, your first impression most certainly matters!
  3. Missing deadlines-If you miss a deadlines with college auditions this puts you in an awkward situation. It shows that you didn’t follow directions and the university may or may not be able to accommodate you. Of course, there are exceptions to everything, but in general, not meeting a deadline is not how you want to be remembered. Strive to meet deadlines early.
